HOW I wish that I lived in the same ideal world as your correspondent Barrie Wickens.
Years before any of our housing estates were built, we had four decent sized stores and we certainly need one now in the town centre, not on the outskirts.
How does he propose elderly people and non-drivers reach these towns in a 25-mile radius? Not only is it tiresome, it is impossible.
Millions have been spent on a bus station, but bus services have been cut and routes disrupted so they no longer connect to the buses leaving for other towns. If you have no transport it is even difficult to access stores on the outskirts of town.
It is so sad to see our town centre dying; I could name a good many items that I can no longer obtain in the town.
