IN our new occasional series the Andover Advertiser is publishing a “thank you” column featuring messages sent in by readers. Whether you would like to show gratitude to a loved one or a complete stranger, this is the place to do it.

Send your messages to mike.sims@andover advertiser.co.uk and include your name and the name of the person you wish to thank.

Andover Lipreaders wish to thank everyone at the Andover Home Produce and Craft Market for their wonderful donation of £500 towards the costs of running lipreading classes in Andover.

This generous gesture is the final throw for the market – the Advertiser ran a column about that a couple of weeks ago.

They presented us with a cheque and there was a photographer present but I don’t know where she was from.

There has been so much bad press about the medical fraternity in this part of the world.

Twice in the recent past I have had to call on them – the first time a month ago when within five hours I had seen our GP, a consultant, had scans and tests galore – a wonderful service.

The second time was when my husband needed attention; paramedic, ambulance, all sorts of tests – again, a wonderful service for which we cannot thank the staff concerned enough.

We are most grateful for your speed and such a fantastic service.

I would just like to thank two very kind people who really helped out my son in what was a very difficult week.

He came off his bike at the bottom of Weyhill Road at 3.30pm on Monday 11, March.

A very kind lady stopped her minibus and patched him up and waited with him until I arrived.

I would also like to thank the kind gent who offered to look after my son’s bike while we went to hospital, to keep it safe. It was reassuring to know it was secure while we were concentrating on other things.

Thanks also to all the patient drivers who were held up while my son was being looked after.

Say what you like about our town but I love it and this day in particular reminded me of exactly why I do.
