SEEING the Clare Cafe photo in the Andover rag last week reminded me of a trick a classmate played on me in about 1956 when I was nine years old.
Just before the 9 o’clock assembly at East Street School (100 yards from the cafe) he told me there had been a murder the night before inside the cafe.
I queried this knowing Andover to be a quiet town but he did confirm the murder; saying a fork stabbed a sausage.
