WITH regards to the Weyhill Road cycleway, this potentially dangerous scheme seems to be nearing its conclusion.

Those who live on this stretch of Weyhill Road can now see what the finished project will offer. Those who don’t I invite them to come and view.

The entire upper stretch from The Chestnut Tree to Meadow Way is appallingly anonymous. As the pavement has now been widened by removing trees and many grass verges, it resembles a fast stretch of road on any World GP circuit.

Moreover, as the entire stretch slopes downwards, one can only imagine the fun those on bikes (I won’t call them cyclists) will have travelling anything up to 20mph and vying for space and precedence over pedestrians and those taking toddlers to and from school and/or playgroups. Not to mention colliding with cars leaving properties to go to work.

But HCC and TVBC knew all of this because myself and others told them. Shame on all involved in this, particularly our “out of town”

Councillor Sean Woodward who singularly gave this his blessing in June last year. I await the first incident.
