ONCE again a page of pictures that took me down memory lane.
I am referring to page 2 of the Advertiser dated September 4. I remember them all.
The Odeon was where ‘The Third Man’ was showing and there was the sound of a zither playing the theme music. I remember one night during the war I was in the Odeon and Mr Fleming, the manager, came on stage to say, “Ladies and gentlemen, the air raid siren has just sounded.
Those who wish to leave may do so now.”
Guess who didn’t?
I remember the New Theatre before it was called The Rex. That one was round West Street and the Savoy, of course, up London Street.
Back then people went to the pictures two, sometimes three times a week. Gosh, I would love to have that book but I guess they don’t deliver overseas.
Thanks for another trip down memory lane. Oh yes, I know the name of the skating star from Nether Wallop and the name of the place where she lives.
