REGARDING Tim Bonner’s (Chief executive of the Countryside Alliance) letter of November 13.

He states that hunting fox, hare and deer with packs of hounds would be more effective and potentially more humane if they were able to use even more dogs.

I have been witness to hunting with hounds. It involves a group of men and women on horseback following a pack of hounds for many miles, until they have chased down and cornered a defenceless and innocent fox, hare or deer, and then letting the hounds tear it apart while the creature is still alive. He calls this barbaric practice ‘wildlife management’.

I believe it to be a bloodthirsty, savage pastime, that only satisfies the blood lust of the participants. There is nothing ‘humane’ about it.
