AS PRESIDENT of the Anton Rotary Club and on behalf of club members, I would like to thank publicly the following for their tremendous support in enabling Anton Rotary Club to bring Santa with his newly built sleigh to Andover in the days leading up to Christmas.
Tesco’s community champion, Sheryl, for introducing me to Guy Maclean, the carpenter who volunteered and built the sleigh; Alan Holland who helped paint the sleigh; Shane Twyman of Brewers at Hunting Gate, East Portway for donating the paint, Simon Potter at the Picket Piece Commercial Centre for allowing us to use his garage to store the sleigh during its preparation.
A further thanks must go to Tesco’s superstore and ASDA and their respective community champions for allowing us to position Santa’s sleigh in their respective establishments.
The Club members who volunteered to support Santa as elves, as well as Santa, managed to raise a wonderful £1,600 that the Club will use to support some of Andover’s local community charities and support organisations.
Barry Hawgood, President, Anton Rotary Club.
