I AGREE wholeheartedly with Alan Hasler, writing in the March 11 Andover Advertiser.

We are constantly being told that brownfield sites should be used for housing so the Hayden site should be used for apartments. The present plans will be welcomed by no-one. There is an excellent store at the Hexagon – the Mace one with its Post Office – and take away venues are not far away on Bridge Street.

I frequently need to make the turn on to Salisbury Road from Millway Road and that is dangerous enough now. If the plans go ahead, I shall have to drive down to the roundabout by the Millennium Man – the Floral Clock as I always think of it – and turn right up the Salisbury Road.

I shall certainly not want to use the takeaway outlets or the Sainsbury’s store.

The Haydon site is an eyesore but if the plans go ahead it will be covered by litter from the takeaway outlets and probably rat infested.

It will also make an already dangerous junction much worse.
