LABOUR is by far the largest mass membership party in the UK, with its members and MPs overwhelmingly in favour of remaining within the EU.

Always a priority for us in the Labour party is the rights of working men and women.

Labour proudly signed the EU Social Chapter in 1997 that gave rights such as parental leave when your child is born.

We need to remember that this was resisted by Conservatives while they were in government in the 1990s.

The Conservatives and UKIP have never cared about rights for workers.

Do not allow them the chance to take away your rights at work including the 48-hour working week, maternity and paternity leave, paid holiday and sickness leave, by voting to leave the EU.

Those that wish to leave the EU are very good at making accusations of scaremongering, but they’ve been doing it for years particularly on the issue of migration and refugees.

Terror attacks in France and Belgium, millions of refugees fleeing war and terror in North Africa and the Middle East; it is easy to be fearful.

Leaving the EU will not stop any of this, and the best way of solving these issues is for countries to be working together.

The Leave campaigns also constantly attack migration from the EU, but there is no guarantee that leaving the EU would stop this either.

Norway and Switzerland are outside of the EU, but still have to accept free movement of people as part of their EU trade deal.

We in the Labour party also acknowledge the hundreds of thousands of UK nationals that go and work every year in the rest of the EU.

We believe that it works both ways.

The Labour party was at the forefront of the keeping our own union together in the Scottish independence referendum in 2014, that union being the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Support for the EU is much higher in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

We are concerned that a vote to leave the EU will play into the hands of nationalists and increase the risk of the UK breaking up.

It would be ironic, that those that wish to leave the EU could end losing the country that they so profess to love.

However, it would seem to us that those that wish to leave the EU, often will wish to do so whatever the price.
