PATTERNED, wooden fascia have been fitted onto the surrounding buildings of the Chantry Centre and various locations around Andover College.

The refurbishment, which took place in February, has been completed, giving the building a new, modernised look and brining life to the town centre.

One of the most notable features of this new look is the new red ‘C’ logo on the Chantry Centre entrances, which can be seen from a distance.

The buildings of the town centre now boast a new, sharp and bright character with their mosaic fascia and warm colours.

But the project was met with mixed responses, with many disliking the new appearance and stating the historic building around the Chantry Centre would lose its character.

After all, the town centre is known for its old, historical buildings and its unique character.

Others, however, expressed their approval calling it a breath of fresh air and the change the town centre always needed.

A crane used to move the cladding fell onto the library building during the final stages of the facelift, after workers failed to activate the machine’s stabilizer legs.

This forced Greggs and surrounding shops to temporarily shut down.

Pedestrian traffic was also disrupted in the town centre, causing access issues for many of the locals.

The crane was removed safely days later and the overhaul has now been completed, meaning citizens can finally appreciate the new look of the town centre; love it or loathe it.
