I HOPE you show your democratic side and print this letter.
Regarding your article in the Advertiser of May 20 regarding "Farmer fury over badgers, cow deaths blamed on critters".
Firstly this is (excuse the pun) a load of bull.
That statement smacks of back in the day, redneck, hillbilly connotations of pesky no good critters, just vermin destroying the farmers livelihood.
This kind of reporting does not help the innocent badgers cause, and is, frankly, derogatory and misleading.
One would hope the Andover Advertiser would use more intelligent rhetoric regarding description of animals in the future.
Cows and livestock are just money making machines to the farmer, there is no compassion or kindness shown these creatures, so any anger and frustration expounded from the farmer is based on the loss of money, not animal welfare.
What’s different from TB or slaughterhouse? One is a disease, the other is horrendous terror and fear for the animal before slaughter.
Besides, there is no fact based evidence that badgers cause TB, there are many that believe dubious farming practices actually cause the disease, and these peaceful innocent badgers are being used as scapegoats.
