LIKE many readers I was annoyed to receive a fine for parking at Lidl.
I wrote immediately to the manager but my letter went unanswered despite their claim that they will appeal charges on behalf of customers. It has taken me several weeks and two direct appeals but ultimately the fine has been quashed and your readers may be interested to hear the assessor's findings that "the burden of proof lies with the operator to show a contravention of the terms and conditions".
In other words it is for the parking company to provide evidence that a customer left the site. Their operative simply stating that you did so is not sufficient and their claim that you must provide evidence of purchases is not true.
