THANK you, June Groves, for asking where I would purchase “bed linen, curtains, cushions, or any household furnishings” in Andover.

As mine came from Andover, I am happy to let you know of the places I know about.

Excluding the charity shops, which regularly have a wide selection of bedding and curtains, you can get soft furnishings from Wilkos, Mooch, At Last, Old Traditions, La Di Da in the town centre.

If you prefer to do it yourself, then you can get fabrics, foam and fittings from Penny’s.

If you will permit me to venture out of the town centre, and still remain in Andover, then there is The Range, Homebase, Next and the three supermarkets: Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Asda.

If you want a bespoke service then you could try Busby Neil, Country Furnishings, The Curtain Gallery, or André’s Blinds and Signs, all based around Andover.

Finally, if none of these have what you are looking for, there is always Argos, or John Lewis with Click and Collect from Waitrose, and ordering into store from Marks and Spencers!

I think we will have to agree to disagree about Andover’s heart, for me it is somewhere with a real community and a fantastic range of independent shops that you just will not find anywhere else.

Could it be better?

Of course. Is it a wonderful High Street with lots to offer?

Yes, I believe it is.

I hope that helps.

REGARDING the health of Andover’s High Street.

I love living and shopping here.

Yes, there are several empty units in the Chantry Centre and as shopping centres go it’s not the best.

But the High Street area is lovely, we have the Guildhall, the river running near Wilkinson’s, some great independent shops and all the supermarkets you might need within easy walking distance.

What’s not to like?

Some people are never happy and believe the grass is greener elsewhere.

But who would want to live in somewhere like Basingstoke? A few more shops but it’s not pretty, or cheap to live there.

No thanks, it’s not for me.
