I LIKE the concept of using a column in your newspaper as a form of communication with the leader of Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC), but find the contents to be echoing old news previously reported by your paper and the social media.

I think perhaps the title should be re-named to ‘Phil Your Boots’ instead of ‘Phil You In’ as it seems to have become a written selfie column.

Perhaps it would suit the purpose more if it became a questions and answer column of say three questions per column. I’m sure it wouldn’t use any more of Phil North’s time than writing his column but produce better results.

My question regarding the new toilet scheme would be: What are the requirements for any business to join this scheme? Having owned a business in this town for over 40 years, I do know I only have to provide toilet facilities for my staff. This does not include baby changing rooms or separate disabled facilities. I am certain this applies to the vast majority of businesses in Andover! So, would there be a grant available from TVBC for myself and other similar businesses to bring our facilities up to the level required to join this new scheme or is it just for the chosen few? If there isn’t a grant, then you cannot say it is open for all businesses and it would be an unfair scheme!

As I have said previously in this newspaper to the former leader of TVBC. Ian Carr, it would be of common decency to answer this letter in this newspaper, and he did!
