AFTER reading about Erica Oliver’s concern over parking at Chantry Lodge, I would like to add that I am a carer and went to a lady to give her tea at 5pm and returned at 9pm to put her to bed, on Saturday and Sunday.
I made a mistake and parked in Lidl car park, which was empty, thinking that it was free after 4pm. Three days later I received four parking tickets, for £360 but if I pay quickly it’ll only cost me £180. I was paid about £16!
I appealed to the company and they told me that there were signs all around in the car park and I entered into a contract by entering the car park therefore I had to pay.
I accept I was in the wrong but the car park was empty at that end and therefore I wasn’t depriving the company of any money.
I just despair that nowadays there seems to be no compassion for people making mistakes. It was a person that refused my appeal nor a computer.
What is the matter with people now?
