I JUST wanted to say thank you for publishing the letters I have written previously to the Advertiser.

Great job as always.

I would like to say a very special thank you to a lady who had worked over and beyond the call of duty for the British Legion. RIP.

Rosemary McCombie had sold poppies for years in the village of Shipton Bellinger, going out in all weathers to sell poppies to residents.

She once told me she started early in years and if my memory recalls she began doing this wonderful job with her mother.

Rosemary was once a member of the local coffee pot at Fletcher hall but ill health prevented her from visiting us.

She will be greatly missed in our village and she will always be remembered as the poppy lady.

We always knew when Remembrance Day was almost upon us. Thank you for all the hard work she put in for fallen soldiers and their families. Rosemary means remembrance and we will remember her.

Mrs Josephine Smith, Hedges Close, Shipton Bellinger.
