HOW interesting were a lot of comments people made to me, after they read Joanne Cooles’ letter (Advertiser 13 April ‘Telling the truth’).

If no complaints regarding drug abuse have been made, according to TVBC, since the Community Toilet Scheme (CTS) has been in force, how come TVBC failed so dismally to prevent it in our own public toilets?

If the finance to keep the toilets open wasn’t the problem, why weren’t other suggestions made by their public directly to them and through your paper, tried and tested first?

If the price to demolish the toilets quickly was £23,490 and the CTS has cost £6,000 so far, would that near £30,000 have paid for alterations (turnstile), etc, with a charge of 20p per person, which the majority of their public who signed the 5,000 petition said they were happy to pay, would have paid the wages of a minder/ cleaner?

Why the hurry to turn perfectly situated public toilets into five parking spaces?

Will they be disabled bays to replace the ones in the High Street, ready to be fully pedestrianised as I’ve previously suggested, or is the car park site going to be developed into flats, which is the fast spreading rumour?

Then, what about the road next to Wilkinsons that is going to be closed to traffic?

Is this to be able to pedestrianise Bridge Street?

Will TVBC have to obtain some public space protection orders to prevent the public feeding pigeons (£80 fine) and beggars (£100-fine) as other towns have done, to be able to make this mini-park enjoyable to others?
