FRIENDS attending a recent dinner and dance at the Masonic Hall, Andover, enjoyed a delicious four-course meal and coffee, prepared by Alan Mead and his staff, whilst raising a considerable sum for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The evening was started with an amazing Grace compiled and read by Richard Noon. This contained not only our thanks to our Lord, but many other compilations regarding the evening. An excellent start.

Once again, our thanks go to our Master of Ceremonies Graham North, who kept the evening running smoothly, and during the evening games were enjoyed by the guests, with ‘Roll the Pound for the Port’ (donated by the hall steward Danny Weymouth). There was also a balloon game and ‘Play your Cards Right’.

Raffle prizes were donated by the guests, tickets were sold during the evening by friends, and this resulted in a huge raffle. Most guests have been coming to these events for many years.

The enjoyable entertainment this year was Alvin Printwhistle presenting songs and jokes as himself (other years he has been in the guise of Elvis).

This was followed by dancing to Cuckoos Nest, a talented trio who performed music for everyone to dance the night away.

The evening went far too quickly, but not before an amazing £1,000 was raised for the charity, which this year was the Alzheimers Society.

It is hoped that this will help to find a cure for this dreadful disease.

Our grateful thanks to all who helped and gave their support to raise this magnificent sum and for making it another successful evening.
