BETWEEN 1959 and 1962 about 24 Royal Navy Hawker Sea Fury aircraft were stored at Chilbolton Airfield, near Stockbridge.
I am looking to collate any information regarding these now long lost historic aircraft during their time at Chilbolton. They were stored on the south west corner of the airfield in the former Vickers-Armstrong hangars and during 1961 /62 were progressively taken outside and broken up for scrap.
I would be interested to hear from any readers who might have any memories of the aircraft, but especially photographs. Perhaps past Vickers Armstrong, Folland or Hawker staff could be of help? I believe the hangars still exist and reportedly used by the John Lewis Partnership.
I would be interested in any information your readers may have. They should feel free to contact me at Chrisbeards@btinternet.com
