I LOVED the photo in the Advertiser of May 25 (‘Hampshire ale guests at MPs’ bar’) of our local MP with Mark and Jenny Betteridge getting their local brew to the Houses of Parliament.
Congratulations to you both.
However, I am just wondering if Mr Kit Malthouse could find time to enquire what is actually happening to our local pub The Swallow, Pilgrims Way.
We, the locals, are hearing ‘and seeing’ all different changes over the last few months. We have had a licensing officer sat taking notes. Test Valley seems to be against it.
The last landlady, Sonia, brought the pub up for the ‘place to be’ — happy, friendly, atmosphere, a bit of entertainment and, at the same time, standing no nonsense.
Now she has gone the place is almost empty.
We, my husband and I (not royalty) are amongst the OAPs who just like to stroll down there for company (community spirit), instead of sitting at home.
I’m sure we, ‘your constituents’, would really appreciate your interest in what is actually happening to our local pub.
Mrs Doreen Burt, Thames Court, River Way, Andover.
