TODAY (June 14) was recycling bin day and on collecting the emptied bin there was a sticker that has been placed on the bin specifying which items could and could not be placed in for recycling.

It has long been a major grouse of mine that amongst neighbouring councils Test Valley Borough Council appears to be the only one that will not accept shredded paper thereby increasing the amount we place in landfill.

With all the publicity currently being given to the importance of recycling single use plastics I was astounded to see on the sticker that we are not allowed to recycle plastic food packaging.

I find it amazing that our council can be so insensitive to the ecological importance of reducing the amount of plastic we do not recycle.

We should all be trying to increase the amount we recycle and not decrease it.

So come on TVBC join the green revolution.
