SIMON Knowles, from Ludgershall, thinks real people, rather than celebrities, should be the ones featuring on the New Year Honours List.

“Sport stars are fine but people who give up their time to do something for others like carers or voluntary charity workers are the ones who really deserve the honour,” he said.

Simon thinks the unsung heroes who truly deserve to be on the honours list are the troops abroad as he believes they should be recognised for what they are having to go through.
