SECTION 47 (6) (A) OF THE PLANNING ACT 2008 – WHEELABRATOR HAREWOOD PROJECT
NOTICE PUBLICISING THE STATEMENT OF COMMUNITY CONSULTATION
WTI / EfW Holdings Ltd (‘Wheelabrator’) has placed on deposit for inspection (free of charge) at the locations listed below, a Statement of Community Consultation (SoCC). This is for the Wheelabrator Harewood Waste-to-Energy (‘WtE’) facility (the ‘Project’). The SoCC explains how Wheelabrator will consult on the Project with the local community, including residents, businesses and organisations in the area. The SoCC can be viewed from 17 October 2019 and also at the Project website: www.wtiharewood.co.uk
The Project comprises the construction and operation of a WtE facility of up to 65 megawatts gross electrical output and associated development. The WtE facility will produce renewable electricity through the treatment of waste and waste derived fuels from various sources of household and business waste.
As the Project is a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project, Wheelabrator will apply to the Secretary of State via the Planning Inspectorate (‘PINS’) for a Development Consent Order (‘DCO’) under the requirements of the Planning Act 2008 (‘PA 2008’).
Wheelabrator has a duty to consult with local communities before the application is submitted to PINS. Wheelabrator is also required to produce a Consultation Report detailing how the public’s views have been taken into consideration and how the consultation requirements of the PA 2008 have been complied with.
The Project is an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) development and so Wheelabrator will prepare an Environmental Statement to accompany the application. Preliminary Environmental Information be will be made available during the consultation on the Project for people to inspect at the locations listed below, as well as at www.wtiharewood.co.uk.
Requests for a copy of the SoCC should be made by writing to: Freepost WHEELABRATOR HAREWOOD, e-mailing: info@wtiharewood.co.uk or calling 0800 062 2981.
