A303 TRUNK ROAD - WEYHILL SERVICES (NEAR ANDOVER)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A303 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a)and 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as permitted by because works are proposed to be executed on and in the vicinity of the road. This forms an extension of Temporary Notice HE/2018/E374 as permitted by The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992, Section 7. The effect of the Order is to:-
a) authorise the 24-hour closure of the roads leading to and from both carriageways of the A303 at the Weyhill Services sites;

b) authorise the 24-hour closure of the lay-by adjacent to the eastbound carriageway of the A303 between points 555 metres and 755 metres east of the centreline of Sarson Lane junction; and

c) impose a 50 mph speed limit on -

i) the eastbound carriageway of the A303 between points 580 metres west of the centreline of Sarson Lane junction and 500 metres east of the centreline of the northern Weyhill Services junction; and

ii) the westbound carriageway of the A303 between the centreline of the railway underbridge (south of Hundred Acre Interchange (A343)) and a point 500 metres west of the centreline of the southern Weyhill Services junction.

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake work to improve substandard slip roads and develop the southern Weyhill Services site, and to protect the public from the continuing hazard posed by access to the sites by authorised vehicles when work is not being conducted. It is expected that the work would last for approximately 4 months starting on or after Sunday 18th June 2018. The Order would come into force on 18th June 2018 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
No diversions are advised as the services are not currently accessible to the public. The temporary closures and speed restrictions would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
