After nearly four years of pollical wrangling, Britain is preparing to leave the EU on Friday.

But this won’t be the end of Brexit talk and negotiations – far from it.

After January 31, the UK will enter a transition period where it will spend 11 months still following EU law while talks continue on a trade agreement.

Prime minister Boris Johnson has said he wants a comprehensive deal, covering all aspects of Britain’s future relationship with the EU including security, by the end of 2020.

But senior EU figures have repeatedly warned that this kind of timetable won’t make that possible.

They have cautioned that the UK cannot expect to enjoy the highest quality access to European markets if it refuses to align itself with EU rules after Brexit.

Do you think Boris Johnson will be able to sort a deal by the end of the year? Are you glad progress is finally being made on Brexit?
