Castle Malwood Lodge was never really a castle as we understand it today, it is thought to have originally been the most important Bronze Age hill fort in the New Forest area occupying a commanding position.

It was a large double ring ditched hill fort and its outer rings remain mostly intact and rising up to 3 to 4 meters in places! Much of the fort is over grown and the inner circle is on private land occupied by Castle Malwood Lodge, a country house built in 1884 for Sir William Harcourt who was a prominent political figure serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer. Now Castle Malwood Lodge has been converted as we see it today.

Castle Malwood Lodge maintains many of the original features some being the original entrance door to the house, inside a plethora of period features including deep skirtings, grille windows, high ceilings, the list continues. The accommodation includes the principal bedroom impressive in both size and proportion and fitted wardrobe space. There is a well fitted family bathroom with white suite. The kitchen, bigger than it looks in the photos, has integrated white goods, pantry cupboard and both base and wall units.

A unique feature of the home is the wonderful open plan reception room, with flexible living space there is room for your home office, snug space and dining table to boot.

A short, pleasant walk around the communal grounds or stretch those legs a little further and the New Forest reveals its beauty to you season after season.
