National Curry Week runs until Sunday, October 11 so here are the top six Andover restaurants offering the nations favourite dish as rated by TripAdvisor.  

Top place in all categories is Light of Asia located in Andover High Street and offers Indian, Balti, Bangladeshi and Asian inspired curries  with vegetarian and vegan options. The restaurant received 163 votes, 141 of which were ‘Excellent.’ 

One reviewer wrote in September: “Fantastic food, very friendly staff and very Covid friendly!! We have been staying in Andover for a couple of days and were looking for a nice place to eat. This was perfect. Highly recommend.” 

Hot on its heels is The New Bengal in Winchester Street. Specialising in Indian, Asian, Balti, Bangladeshi with vegan, vegetarian, Halal and gluten free options, the restaurant has earned 185 reviews, with 171 of eaters rating it as ‘Excellent.’ 

One reviewer said: “Friday night is takeaway night. I've used the actual takeaway for more years than a can remember from one family owner to the present family that own it. They are friendly and very helpful with our orders ,deliveries are quick, and the food is 1st class, traditional family recipes wonderful flavours all cooked to order and if you require small adjustments to your meal ,like smaller pieces of chicken, they always are willing to help their customer's needs." 

The first Thai restaurant comes in just one place behind The New Bengal and offers Asian, Thai, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. 

The Siam Orchid in George Yard has received an impressive 647 reviews with 519 rating it as ‘Excellent.’ 

“Six members of my family thoroughly enjoyed a meal at Siam last night. We will definitely be back soon! The vegetarian offering is great and all the food was so full of flavour,” said one diner.  

The fourth highest rated curry house is the Curry Leaf in Andover's Union Street. The restaurant offers Indian, Asian, Balti and Bangladeshi dishes with the usual dietary alternatives.  

Receiving 347 reviews and 254 ‘Excellent’ reviews one recent diner said: “Took my other half for a meal, best curry I have tasted, both loved meal and service was excellent as usual, thank you all.” 

Fifth place may come as a surprise sa it is not a traditional curry house but a pub. The Fox Inn in Hungerford Lane, Tangley offers a selection of Thai curries along with traditional pub fare. 

Receiving 254 ‘Excellent’ reviews one of which read: “On our way back from Cornwall we stayed in Andover overnight, booked for an evening meal at the Fox Inn. What a surprise to find a pub doing Thai food, it was fantastic could not fault it.” 

Ranked 16th overall but coming sixth in the list of curry houses is the Pink Olive in Weyhill Road Weyhill. Offering Indian, Asian and contemporary dishes the restaurant has amassed 181 ‘Excellent’ reviews.  

“Unfortunately we were not allowed into the restaurant, so we ended up with a takeaway, and what a great meal we had. Great food, great choice, nice and hot and good value as well,” said one recent reviewer.
