PREVIEW:

Andover Rocks, Friday, 6 to Saturday, 7 April.

Andover Rocks is back for its second year, bigger and better than before. Two days of events will be spread across six venues, with a plethora of performances ranging from meditation and poetry to acoustic sets and the dirty guitar riffs of alternative grunge.

On Friday the event opens at The Malthouse with Meditation to music at 6pm. An evening of jazz will keep the crowds swinging until the nights festivities come to a close with an impressive fire poi display from Dayna Timmons.

Saturday's full and hectic schedule of events will be taking over the town centre. Andover Time Ring will showcase the work of amazing community groups, seeing performances from Romsey Ukulele group, Brilliant Drama Group and Harrow Way School choir among other talented ensembles.

For those who want to do more than just watch, various workshops will be underway at The Methodist Church including arts and crafts and exotic bellydancing.

Café Bridge will host a day of poetry and musical theatre, ranging from children's poetry sessions to a performance of adult spoken word with music, featuring Andover poet Dan Hooks and musical jazz band Just Us.

For lovers of acoustic sounds, the White Hart will be turning into an acoustic lounge, hosting great local musicians ready to entertain an enthusiastic crowd. Performers include Tumbleweeds, Lisa Von H and The Irregulars.

The Rockhouse will be open for a full day of music, starting at 2pm with the Andover College band. An impressive line up of genres spanning everything from heavy rock to a bagpipe troupe will be live and loud throughout the day until NoKando's closing set at 10pm.
