A HAUNTING comedy thriller will be coming to Basingstoke this January.

Arnold Ridley’s The Ghost Train will be at The Haymarket from Wednesday, 28 to Saturday, 31 January.

And two lucky readers have the chance to win a pair of tickets to the production at 7.30pm on Wednesday, 28 January.

A group of travellers are stranded in the waiting room of an isolated railway station on a dark and stormy night.

They react with various degrees of credulity to the station master’s warning of death to anyone who sets eyes on the ghostly train that haunts the line.

Author Arnold Ridley’s inspiration for the story came after becoming stranded overnight at Mangotsfield station in Bristol, now a disused station on the Midland Railway main line.

After the huge success of this play in the 1920s, he found fame all over again playing Private Godfrey in Dad’s Army.

Presented by Talking Scarlet and starring a host of favourite actors including Jeffrey Holland (Hi-de-Hi! and You Rang M’Lord?), Corrinne Wicks (Emmerdale and Doctors), Tom Butcher (The Bill and Doctors), Sophie Powles (Emmerdale), David Janson (‘Allo ‘Allo! and Keeping Up Appearances) and Judy Buxton (By The Sword Divided and On the Up) it is a spooky tale not to be missed.

Tickets for The Ghost Train are priced from £17 to £22 including a £1 booking fee.
