BRAZIL’S internationally acclaimed dance company Grupo Corpo will come to The Mayflower Theatre, in Southampton on 7 and 8 October as part of the Dance Consortium UK tour.
Grupo Corpo’s dancers combine the precision of classical ballet with the passion of Latin dance rhythms.
Two pieces will be performed in each show, choreographed by Rodrigo Pederneiras.
Parabelo is inspired by life in rural Brazil and was created in 1997. It features choreography full of hip swaying and feet stamping, with the dancers sweeping across the stage and moving from group to solo and back.
Sem Mim is beautifully melancholic and is set to a 13th century Portuguese song cycle. It focuses on a group of villagers who wait anxiously on shore for the return of their fishermen.
