THE future of a pub in Monxton is up in the air after landlords announced their decision to leave.

Michael Pasque, landlord of the The Black Swan, told this newspaper that his team will be moving on to a new pub.

After 18 months at The Black Swan, Mr Pasque said that it was time to develop the business, which they felt they could do in Grateley.

He said: “Rosy and I are sad to be leaving The Black Swan.

“It wasn’t an easy decision; we put everything we had into making The Mucky Duck the best it could be and are proud of the reputation we have built.

“We were presented with a fantastic opportunity to take on The Plough in Grateley.

“We fell in love with the pub and are looking forward to opening on Thursday, April 21 at 5pm.

“We’ll be serving drinks and nibbles and would love to see everybody there.

“The kitchen will open in earnest on Friday, April 22 and we’re taking bookings.

“We have a wonderful group of customers who we very much hope will follow us the two miles up the road to Grateley.

“We’re pleased to say the whole team is coming with us too so there will be some familiar faces there, as well as some familiar dishes.”

Despite requests for more information on what this will mean for The Black Swan, no answers were given on this point as we went to press.

The Black Swan will have leaving drinks on Saturday, April 16, before their last day on Sunday. Visit The Plough’s website ploughinngrateley.co.uk for updates.
