AN Andover cafe could be the launch pad for a career in music when talent spotters from TV’s The Voice UK come to town this month.

The search for a star for 2017 will be at Butters Cafe on Tuesday 26 April from 11am.

Entrants, who will need to be 16 years or older by 1 October this year, are asked to prepare one acapella song.

The Voice UK is open to solos, duos and trios, with all music styles welcomed.

Butters' owner Stuart Blake said: "We contacted them weeks ago about would there be a chance of them coming to Andover, directly to The Voice.

"I received an email saying someone would contact us.

"Yesterday I got a phone call my wife spoke to them, they said they rang last week and left a message but we never received anything, they gave us a time when they will be in Andover and date we obviously agreed.

"After us they are going to Bournemouth, they said they would send across a flyer with the details and we should advertise which we are doing and there has been a huge response.

"We do a lot of music, there are some talented people and we wanted to try and get them heard.

"I was worried it maybe a hoax, but the email seems genuine he sent and confirmed everything, along with the flyer, and we did contact them several times to put ourselves forward.

"We are really pleased they accepted, I just hope the talented people we hear at our mic nights, come forward to perform.

"A lot write their own songs and deserve to be heard."
