A TOWN centre eatery has declared it is not closing after receiving a “tremendous” amount of emails about it potentially relocating to Bournemouth.

Butter’s Cafe confirmed it is looking into finding another location to run alongside the Upper High Street joint.

Customers first started questioning the potential move following the cafe’s response to a Facebook review.

It said in the post it would not renew its lease when it expires and would leave the town.

After receiving messages from concerned customers, Butter’s Cafe released a statement through its own Facebook page.

It said: “We have received a tremendous amount of emails about us leaving and going to Bournemouth, we are looking into premises in Bournemouth and other towns.

“We have said that all along, as another cafe to run alongside Andover, with the amount of shops leaving Andover of course we will probably not be renewing the lease, I believe that was said in the review.

“We aren’t going anywhere at the moment or in the near future, massive thank you to our regulars, please keep supporting Butter’s we really do appreciate your continued custom.”

Stuart Blake, owner, added: “Our customers do not need to worry, we are not going anywhere, of course a business would think seriously of renewing a lease when so many others have left Andover.

“But we are not going anywhere, we are focusing on finding another premises to run alongside Andover, not closing to go to Bournemouth.”

Facebook users reacted to the statement expressing their happiness at hearing the cafe would not be closing in the near future.

One customer said: “I hope you continue your success here and fingers crossed that maybe one day a new venue in Andover may be revealed.”

Another added: “Hooray. Was so saddened by the news, delighted you’re still staying. Keep up the good work.”
