A CHARLTON Road-based hospice hosted its annual Light Up a Life service to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones on 10 December.

The Sunday service saw almost 200 supporters attend the Countess of Brecknock Hospice event, with an outdoor service led by Reverend Jill Bentall, Test Valley Brass and the Andover Spotlight Singers.

Attendees also watched 5,000 bulbs light up the hospice Christmas tree to remember their family and friends.

Countess of Brecknock head of community fundraising Michele Gard said: “Light Up a Life is one of the most valued events in our calendar.

“It enables people in our local community to remember and share precious memories at this special time and to unite and comfort people who have lost their loved ones.

“It also highlights the vital support that the hospice provides after family members or friends have died.”

The event supported by The Stannah Group and Tesco River Way donated mince pies.

The hospice is collecting donations to dedicate a light, to support the centre’s work providing care in the community.

The dedications form books of remembrance which will be on display at the Countess of Brecknock hospice until 6 January.
