BRIGHTEN up your post-Christmas period by joining the Somborne Players as they present their village pantomime for 2018.

Rumpelstiltskin, based on the traditional fairy tale, will be performed at Kings Somborne Village Hall on 2 and 3 February.

Cheer on the goodies and boo the baddies as the magical tale unfolds of a strange little man who can spin straw into gold and the bargain he makes with the dressmakers daughter.

Rumpelstiltskin is a magical troll who has romantic designs on Annie, the beautiful daughter of dressmaker Gertie Gusset, who is already betrothed to Scottish soap star ‘George Mclooney’.

See how the troll hatches a wicked plan, with his two idiot henchman Sniff and Scratch, so that Annie is imprisoned by the king and queen and set the impossible task of spinning straw into gold, if she is to regain her freedom.

But then Rumpelstiltskin appears and offers to do the job for her, in return for her promise to give him anything he wants.

What he wants is to marry Annie, and when she refuses she is kidnapped and taken to his castle.

Watch how the quest to find Annie and return her to prison follows, led by the king’s assistant, Dogsbody, who is as his name suggests.

But as always in panto, good overcomes evil and you can find out how the baddies get their comeuppance.

But they cannot do it without some support from the audience!

Come along and help them, and enjoy another rip-roaring pantomime from the Somborne Players.

The show is suitable for all ages and everyone is welcome to enjoy some laughs and songs and see how the magic unfolds.

Performances are set to take place on Friday, 2 February at 7.30pm and Saturday, 3 February at 2pm and 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £6 for adults, £4 for children and a family ticket of two adults and two children is £17.50.

Tickets are available from both The Post Office and Martin Stores in Kings Somborne or by calling Charlotte on 07852 634685.
