A CENTRE supporting women has been given a welcome boost by a choir.
The Andover Crisis and Support Centre has been given a cheque for over £1,400 by The Harmonium Singers following its Christmas concert at St Mary’s Church.
The cheque was received by Elaine Oates, senior project worker, who gave thanks the additional funding.
The centre, in New Street, provides accommodation for women and women with children in need of a supportive environment.
Residents can stay up to six months, and during that time the centre workers are on hand to give practical advice and emotional support in order for them to move on with their lives.
Penny Wood, the choir’s co-ordinator, said: “We always choose a good local charity for our various Christmas activities. At the main concert the audience responded very positively, with their ticket money and the retiring collection going to charity."
