A TOWN centre department store which has been trading for 81 years is under threat of closure in a move which has ‘devastated and disappointed’ residents and councillors.

Fifty jobs are at risk as Marks & Spencer (M&S) says it is consulting with its employees on a proposed closure of the High Street store.

The major retailer announced this week it will be shutting down six stores by the end of April, and have proposed to close another eight shops, including Andover.
