CHILDREN, parents and even their dogs ran to raise money for a primary school’s refurbishment project.
The Amport School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) raised £1,700 for the primary school from its 10km, 5km and 3km races, held alongside a cake stall and other activities, at Amport Cricket Club on 24 March.
Families rallied together to support the project to refurbish one of the school’s two buildings which houses the Reception, Year 1, 3 and 4 classrooms.
Amport PTA Sheela Putt said both the cricket club and running group Muddy Runners made a “massive effort” to put on the event.
Ms Putt said: “It’s great news for a school like Amport.
“Being a small school we don’t benefit from the economies of scale and we have very little money for essentials like updating classrooms with equipment and up-to-date technology so everything the PTA raises goes a long way.”
