IT IS a return of Reiki at one Andover school.
Following a successful trial earlier in the year on a PSHE day, John Hanson Community School has welcomed back Year 8 parent and Reiki practitioner, Hayley Butt and her Real Therapy Room to the school.
Hayley has been booked for a day a month to offer private, thirty minute one-to-one sessions to both students and staff at the Floral Way school.
Reiki is said to work by restoring balance on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, to help both physical injury, and mental and emotional stresses .
Assistant headteacher Kim Hide, a recent convert to Reiki herself, said: “Student and staff well-being is integral to the work we do at John Hanson. Having the opportunity to offer students the opportunity to relax and learn to manage their own stress and anxieties is so important to us as a school.”
Hayley said: “In my experience, children respond really well and very quickly to Reiki. They haven’t had years of life experiences and the general build-up of negative emotions and suppressed feelings that we, as adults, may have had, which have, in turn, caused blockages in our energy. Reiki is calming, soothing and relaxing, but our sessions can also be really fun and full of giggles too.”
