A COMMUNITY music festival produced an “electric atmosphere” in the town centre over the weekend.

Andover Rocks featured music and the arts dotted around six venues on 6 and 7 April, drawing in crowds to raise money to fund music therapy in Southern Health’s community mental health team.

Music blasted out of the Rockhouse, the White Hart, The Malthouse and the town centre’s Time Ring while workshops, poetry and crafts were at Café Bridge and the Methodist Church.

This is the second year the festival rocked the town, and raised more than £2,500.

Organiser Marie Ponting said: “There was a general feeling of everybody understanding what we were doing and why it existed.

“The town’s enthusiasm, participation and getting involved really summed up the day. The atmosphere was electric.

“Thanks to all the people that participated; the musicians, the venues, the technicians, the volunteers, the sound guys, the photographers to everybody who bought tickets, the sponsors.

"We’re already thinking about next year.”
