A NURSING home which was owned by a pair of brothers for 25 years is now under new ownership.

John and Brian Puddepha took up the running of Andover Nursing Home, in Weyhill Road, in 1992 and this year they have decided to retire after a quarter century of hard work.

The brothers built up the home and it was given an ‘outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission in its most recent inspection January 2017.

The widely-regarded home has also received a National Gold Standards Framework Quality Hallmark Award.

Departing owner John Puddepha said: “We have worked very hard over the years to build and maintain a strong and well-respected business and feel that the purchasers will continue our good work.”

The home was sold to Andover Care Ltd in a deal brokered by Christie and Co after “high-level interest” and a number of bids.

It is expected that the staff at Andover Nursing Home will be kept on as the business changes hands to its new owners.

A statement from new home owners Andover Care Ltd, read: “It is with excitement and expectation that we look forward to taking over the running of this lovely business.

“When we first saw the property, we knew the opportunity would be a good purchase for us and we look forward to maintaining the high standards set by John and Brian.”

Director of Christie & Co, Charles Phillips, has wished John and Brian “all the best in their retirement from this sector”.

Mr Phillips said: “The purchaser plans to build on the good reputation of the business and we are sure that with the support of the excellent staff, will deliver positive results.”

Mr Puddepha added: “It was a pleasure working with Charles and the Christie and Co team and my brother and I are delighted to have achieved a confidential sale of the business.”
