PROUD parents were given the chance to celebrate their children becoming prefects.

On Tuesday, June 12 Winton Community Academy hosted an event to issue new prefects with their blazers and ties, and to reveal the much-anticipated news of the names of the head boy and head girl.

Now in its fourth year the school said the quality of the applications and interviews were “truly inspiring”.

Roman Pitman and Ellie Harris were named as head boy and head girl respectively.

Headteacher Nathan Thomas said: “I am delighted with all the new prefect team and look forward to seeing them in our weekly meeting to discuss ways in which we can continue to improve the academy for the young people we serve.

“Both parent voice and student voice are really important at Winton and regular meetings with the prefects is one way we can ensure the voice of the students is heard and acted upon.”

Speaking after his appointment Roman said: “All the prefects are going to strive to improve and give back to Winton.”
