A SUMMER fair put on a “day of magic” with quirky features to draw in the crowds.

Friends of Whitchurch Primary School (FOWPS) pulled out all the stops with a disco tent, animals and the chance to adopt a tree in Saturday’s event.

The sunny day raised more than £5,000 in aid of the school.

FOWPS head Victoria Rampton said: “With so many summer fair posters pinned up around the county, it becomes harder each year to draw guests in to experience something a little different.

“But Whitchurch Primary School PTA (FOWPS) more than delivered a day of magic for families last Saturday.

“Not only did the sun shine, but guests - both young and old - were in for a treat; from reptiles, rabbits and ponies, to stunning jewellery, arts and craft stalls.”

The fire brigade and police also sounded the sirens and Marina School of Dance put on a show.

Kay Burdon, from Shoes on Theatre, said: “We had a lovely time. We met lots of people and spread the word.

“We were very impressed with the variety of activities going on. The whole fair had a lovely vibe and looked like it went very well.”
