CREATIVITY will be buzzing in the town centre at a very special book signing.

Chris Baker is taking part in a hometown book signing event at Waterstones, in the Chantry Centre, tomorrow (Saturday) to celebrate the release of his new graphic novel about the Apollo moon landing.

Chris and writing partner Matt Fitch co-wrote the novel which is illustrated by renowned Marvel and DC comics artist, Mike Collins.

Chris said: “Apollo is a well researched, deeply human story inside of a grand historic event and I think it would appeal to everyone.

“We did ride the nostalgia train a little, because the 50th anniversary is next year for the Apollo 11 moon landing, so we did think this would be a good vessel to tell some of the ideas we had.”

Chris wanted to hold a signing in Andover to celebrate the release of his new graphic novel after being inspired by a childhood hero.

He said: “I used to love Terry Pratchett, he was a writer I really enjoyed reading as a kid..

“I met him in Waterstones, I went to get my book signed, I met him, and talked to him when I was a kid at John Hanson School.

“When I was writing this book, I just remember thinking, ‘I just want to be like Terry’.

“I’m a local writer and I’m going to sign in this store.”

The 35-year-old Charlton resident believes that creativity within the town should continue to be promoted.

He said: “There used to be such a creative hub in Andover, when The George was active.

“There was a little time and place and there were things happening, ideas, art, lots of film, we all just did stuff and I feel like the community just kind of came apart.

“Everything was centred around something, the periphery came together.

“So maybe, this signing, anyone that’s interested in comic books, art, writing, creativity in general come along, let’s all go for a beer.

“Come tomorrow to the signing, from 11.30am.

“I’d be happy to talk to anyone and everyone that wants to talk about space.

“My partner Matt Fitch will be with me, so the whole brain will be there.”

Apollo is published by SelfMadeHero and is available now for £15.99.
