AN ORGANISATION founded to make a difference has announced the name of its new president.

The Rotary Club of Salisbury has welcomed Tidworth resident Anne Smith as its new President.

Anne has been a member since 2008 and takes over the top position from Andy Williams, with Paul Bunyan as the new President Elect.

In her acceptance speech, Anne commented: "It is an honour to be the 97th President of the Rotary Club of Salisbury. Rotary is where neighbours, friends, and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders, and take action to create lasting change. For me, being a Rotarian is about helping others, whether that is by improving their lives or caring enough to make a difference, wherever that may be. We can be proud that Salisbury Rotary Club has made a real difference.

"My commitment as a Rotarian has enriched and enhanced my life - the friendship, advice and support are truly appreciated. Our aim continues to be to support our local community in what they need. As such, we will work on projects that will make a difference locally.

"I am looking forward to getting involved with the existing projects, creating new ones and enjoying the social activities. Together we will endeavour to make our club user friendly and all embracing.

Anne also had a message of encouragement for potential future members, saying: "We do need new members who want to put something back into their community and benefit those who are not so fortunate in life. We simply ask that you use your skills, expertise and knowledge when and where you can – and we guarantee you will also have some fun at the same time."
