A SCHOOLBOY has donated his golden locks to a children’s cancer charity.

After growing his hair for over 18 months, nine year old Nuno Porter-Bessant this week had it all cut off in aid of the Little Princess Trust.

The trust provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young people that have lost their hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Nuno, who decided a year and a half ago that he wanted to support the charity in this way, alongside his mother Su, launched a fundraising campaign to cover the cost of making his hair into a wig for a child in need.

Upon having his hair cut, Nuno said: “I’m glad I can do this for really poorly children. I'd like to make them smile a little bit if they are feeling sad, by wearing a wig made from my hair.”

Originally setting a target of £500, thanks to the support of residents and businesses, Nuno exceeded his expectations, raising £700 before Gift Aid.

During his fundraising efforts, Nuno attracted support from local businesses eager to help him reach his target.

The Travelling Cupcake in Bridge Street auctioned off a chocolate cake, raising £41, and Talking Heads in Weyhill Road cut and prepared Nuno's hair for the charity free of charge.
