A DRINK driver who fled from a crash has been banned from getting behind the wheel.
Jason John Coombes, 32, of Venice Court, Andover, was driving a Ford Mondeo when he hit a Ford Transit van on January 14 and drove off without giving his details.
On Friday, January 27, Basingstoke Magistrates Court heard that he was in possession of herbal cannabis, and officers found that he was over drink drive limit and a breath test revealed he had 58 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35. He also did not have the proper insurance to be behind the wheel of the Mondeo.
Coombes admitted drink driving, possession of a Class B drug, driving without insurance and failing to stop after an accident at an earlier hearing on June 6.
He was fined £450, banned from driving for 16 months, and must pay a £30 victim surcharge, along with £85 court costs.
