ONE queen has made contact with another, more local one.

As previously reported in The Gazette, Highclere-based Stephanie Wyatt was recently made both Miss Hampshire and Miss Dorset, and has had her charitable efforts recognised by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The beauty queen received the letter from the monarch on August 13, having previously written to the address to let the Queen know what activities she was doing.

She got the reply from the deputy correspondence coordinator, Miss Jennie Vine. Part of the letter read: “The Queen was interested to know that you are currently the holder of the titles Miss Dorset and Miss Hampshire and that you continue to remain dedicated to supporting charitable projects around the world.

“Her Majesty was most touched that you should have written to share your achievements with The Queen, and I would like to take this opportunity to send you my good wishes for your continued success in the future.”

The beauty queen said: “I was expecting a more generic response, but this was tailored for me. I saw the envelope by the door and thought ‘that looks official’, and it really got my heart going to see ‘Buckingham Palace’ on it.

“It is really cool to get the recognition, and perhaps we both share something in that we both have crowns. It was absolutely amazing to receive what felt like the Royal seal of approval.”

The framed letter now takes pride of place, framed on the wall.

One of the projects that The Queen was told about was Stephanie’s work locally collecting sanitary products that would then be sent on to schoolgirls in Kenya who didn’t have any.

She explained that as part of the Miss England competition, where she will be representing both Hampshire and Dorset, requires a certain amount of charity work, which Stephanie has chosen to aid environmental charities.
