A MAN who fly-tipped building and plumbing waste in Picket Piece has been fined.
Jack Clarke, of Byng Walk, Andover, discarded the items on land in Ox Drove on March 9 this year.
On Thursday, August 23, at Basingstoke Magistrates Court the 22-year-old pleaded guilty to the crime.
The court heard that Clarke dumped the waste but later confessed to the crime following an investigation by Test Valley Borough Council.
In sentencing, magistrates fined Clarke £450 and ordered him to pay £200 court costs and a £46 victim surcharge.
Following Clarke’s court appearance, Test Valley Borough Council environmental portfolio holder, Councillor Graham Stallard, said: “We investigate every single fly-tip in the borough, whether large or small, and we are absolutely committed to finding those responsible.
“I would urge people to think twice before committing this crime as they may find themselves in court lumbered with a hefty fine or even a prison sentence.”
