THE bassist from an internationally-renowned band has swapped the stage for the Thruxton racing track.
Coldplay member Guy Berryman took to the course on Saturday, September 1 as he continues his quest to qualify as a racing driver.
The classic car enthusiast has enrolled on a year-long course which will involve him taking on a number of UK circuits, including Silverstone and Brands Hatch, to become fully race qualified.
During the weekend’s Caterham Seven Championship, Guy competed against a number of entry level drivers with a meeting full of “fantastic and close racing with spectators enjoying some breath-taking overtaking”.
Guy was awarded for his hard work and speed during the competition with a fifth place finish.
He was also up against friend and fellow musician Glenn Moule of the band The Howling Bells.
Guy competed in his £28,500 Caterham Seven car and he reportedly has his sights on racing at the world-famous Le Mans 24-hour endurance race in June next year.
In his previous race at Snetterton he was disqualified for unsafe driving but he managed to bag some points at the Thurxton race.
Guy’s next race is on Saturday, September 22, at Silverstone.
